Committee Member - Choral Directors' Association (Singapore)
Shihua discovered her love for singing at an early age and has been performing since she was 5. She followed through her passion in her adulthood by pursuing a higher education in music, obtaining a BA(Hons) from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 2009. Her teachers included renowned vocalists such as Ms Nancy Yuen, Mr Thomas Kuek, and late Mr Lim Shieh Yih. As part of her well-rounded music education, she also learnt conducting under Ms Jennifer Tham.
Shihua believes that music-making is about self-expression, merry-making and having fun with friends. Music also cultivates lifelong values such as teamwork, self-discipline and strive for excellence.
Never one to rest on her laurels, Shihua constantly upgrades her musical skills and knowledge. She has attended masterclasses conducted by renowned conductors Mr Kari Turunen, Mr Patrick Russill, Kentaro Sato, Maria Theresa Visconde and Jude B. Roldan.
