Member - Choral Directors' Association (Singapore)
"Jason Ong is a conductor, composer, arranger, singer and producer. By and large a play-by-ear musician, he taught himself to play the piano & keyboards, as well as a smattering of drums and guitar.
Jason co-founded two a cappella groups : In-A-Chord (IAC) in 1987 and Key Elements (KE) in 2001. In-A-Chord was the first a cappella group in Singapore to be signed on by a Taiwanese label (Forward) in 1995, and released two successful albums with the label.
Key Elements has also recorded several cds. In 2014, KE released “Uncovered”, an album featuring 12 original songs, all composed and arranged by Jason. The album, as well as the song “Master Of The House” were both nominated for best world album, and best jazz single in the 2014 American Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards (CARA).
Having served as the President of the Choral Directors Association of Singapore (CDAS), he is still an active member, helping to promote choral activities in Singapore. He has conducted primary school, secondary school, JC and adult choirs.
Jason was the co-founder, choral director and principal arranger of the Singapore Men’s Chorus (Sing!MC) up to 2014. Since then, he maintains a close relationship with the chorus, arranging new works for their annual concerts. In Sing!MC’s 2017 concert, Jason appeared as their guest conductor, where the men premiered three new arrangements which he scored specially for them.
Jason arrangements have been performed by schools, choirs, and a cappella groups, and he continues to arrange for them regularly."
