Darius Lim is Music Director of VOCO Singapore Ladies Choir, Assistant Choirmaster of the Singapore Symphony Children's Choir and Founder & Artstic Director of the Voices of Asia International Choir Festival. The Singaporean Conductor-Composer has risen to prominence in the local and international scene with more than 40 top international and national awards to his name. His choirs have since gone on to enjoy outstanding national and international success and recognition that include Gold medals, 1st and 2nd Prizes, Category Champions, and other special prizes in both local and international choral and composition competitions.

First trained as a pianist and composer, Darius graduated with degrees and diplomas in Piano and Composition with Music Technology. The Silver Medalist of the 6th Asian Youth Music Competition, Darius has also won numerous other prizes as a performer in both local and international music competitions including the 1st Prize in the Open Category of the Cristofori Piano Competition and the Gold Prizes in the 2nd and 3rd Asia International Piano Academy, Festival and Competition in Korea.

Darius went on to study Choral Conducting under the tutelage of Dr Sarah Tenant-Flowers and Neil Ferris at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama where he was the first Asian choral conductor to be awarded the RWCMD scholarship and graduated with a Masters in Choral Conducting (with Distinction).

Darius has served as Chorusmaster for Singaporean productions including Phua Chu Kang- The Musical, Aseanapol in Harmony 2007, Unity in Diversity and the inaugural production of the Singaporean opera Fences by John Sharpley. He also served as choral director of the Singapore Police Force Choir during his two-year national service.

Darius’ choral works have been performed widely around the world. Between 2012 and 2014, “Light of the Night”, “Puppet’s Dream” and “5 Elemental Dances for Youth and Children’s Choirs” received international acclaim, with subsequent performances of those works by more than 230 choirs from China, America, Hong Kong, Australia, Spain, South Korea, Finland, Malaysia, Taiwan, Russia, Singapore and the Philippines.

In 2013, Darius founded the Voices of Asia International Choir Festival, an international Asian-cultural choral festival that has since attracted close to 2000 singers around the world. In 2014, Darius founded the VOCO Singapore Ladies’ Choir, the nation’s first independent all-ladies choir. In the same year, he was also assigned the post of Assistant Choirmaster of the Singapore Symphony Children’s Choir. Most recently in 2015, Darius was elected as President of the Choral Directors' Association of Singapore.
