An avid chorister since her teenage years, Nicolette was introduced to conducting at the age of 14. Her interest in conducting has allowed her to serve as student conductor in her secondary, junior college and varsity school choirs. In 2017 and 2018, Nicolette competed at the 4th and 5th Singapore International Choral Festival (SICF) as conductor of the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Culture Activities Club (CAC) Choir and the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus Secondary (CHIJ) and Alumni Choirs respectively where both choirs were awarded category champions and invited to participate in the Grand Prix Competition held at the Esplanade Concert Hall. She also conducted the CHIJ Secondary Choir at the 2018 Asia Cantate, Hong Kong where the choir was awarded a Gold Diploma Grade B.
