Vivienne Tan graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 2021. She studied composition under the tutelage of Dr. Zechariah Goh, during the Royal College of Music exchange programme with Professor Simon Holt. After receiving her Bachelor of Music, she continued on to win the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship, which funded her studies at the Kodály Institute of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Hungary. At the Institute, Vivienne studied solfège and music theory under Dr. Keresztes Nóra, and methodology with Dr. Nemes László. She attained a Master of Arts in Kodály Music Pedagogy with an emphasis in choral conducting and vocal pedagogy in 2023. Her conducting professor was Dr. Fűri Anna, and her voice and vocal pedagogy coaches were Dr. Darázs Renáta and Dr. Klézli János.
Holding an LLCM in Piano Performance and an ATCL in Vocal Performance, Vivienne is experienced in the different modes of musical delivery and hopes to instil a holistic musical education for the budding musician. Other than solo instrumental playing and vocal singing, she is well versed in rehearsing vocal ensembles, and has performed in various advanced level choirs such as the Asia Pacific Youth Choir, and Cappella Quinqueecclenciensis. Her combined interest in solo and ensemble singing culminated in the subject of her thesis, which concerns ideas on the transference of what is learnt in individual vocal lessons and how it could be implemented in the choral setting.
Vivienne believes that music has the power to bring people together and create opportunities for social engagement, all of which contribute to a more cohesive society. With her broad palette of skills, she aspires to provide a well-rounded education to students; not only developing various aspects of musicianship, but also nurturing personal growth and character.
