Before a conductor faces the choir in a rehearsal, thorough score preparation should be complete. This includes marking the score, identifying challenging sections, and preparing gestural cues. Additionally, it’s important to understand how the piece was written by decoding or unlocking its structure. Join this workshop, "Transforming Score Preparation: A Composer's Perspective," and gain valuable insights from composer Jude B. Roldan. Learn to deconstruct pieces, select warm-up exercises, prepare parts, and structure rehearsal sessions—tailoring your approach based on the music to make rehearsals efficient and effective. As the artistic director of the Young Voices of the Philippines, a choir renowned for producing a sound that belies their young age, wouldn’t you be curious to explore these strategies?

This workshop is free for CDAS members, with a nominal fee of $30 for non-members and $20 for students. Please sign up for this workshop, and encourage your friends, colleagues, and students to join us too.
